Lucky Stradley’s Pottery

I wanted to share an artist I found recently, Lucky Stradley. She does some awesome pottery. As a crocheter, her yarn bowls is what first caught my attention. But her birdhouses are what I fell in love with. I think I will let her work speak for itself starting with my favorite (I think). I have only shown a few of her works. You will have to go take a look around her online shop unless you are fortunate enough to live near her actual shop like my son and daughter-in-law are.   Have a great day everyone.

Future Studio

Now that I am in my new house, I am finally getting a studio for my Nadine Creates business. Right now we are in the first stages. But look! Can’t you see the potential? I have 2 windows for plenty of light. There will be storage for yarns and other supplies for the future expansion of the business. More on that later. I have a new creative partner and can’t wait to show you what we plan! In the meantime, I am back to work on a new cocoon sleep sack I am designing. I will share it in my next post.

Joyful Linens

Joy from Joyful Linens sent me an Etsy conversation this morning. It was so nice to meet an crafter in North Carolina. I love making craft friends online. It makes me feel connected to a world of creativity. Thank you for reaching out to me Joy. I have probably been by her town when I lived in western North Carolina since we used to go mining in Franklin.

You have got to check her blog out. Her writing will take you to a  magical place. I hope she will put together a book of stories of farm life. I know I would love to read and own it. Also her linens are fabulous because of the way she plays with colors. You can feel the joy. Enjoy this wonderful person and her works. Bohemian Dreams Pillowcase Whimsical Aqua Orange Paisley

Ribbed Cap and Booties

I have been working on some preemie ribbed caps and booties.

I absolutely loved this pattern for the cap http://smiley-netta.blogspot.com/2010/03/ribbed-crochet-preemie-hat.html. The stretch is perfect for preemies. I ended up going a little crazy with it. It is easy to make bigger or smaller by how many stitches you start out with.

Anyway, I decided the cap needed some booties to go with them. I didn’t like any of the patterns I ran across for it because I wanted the same amount of stretch. Plus it looks better when the cap and booties have the same stitch. So I made my own pattern. I used the new Stitch works program I got recently and made a chart.  If you want it, let me know. It is a PDF file and I will be happy to share.

Etsy Shop opened

i decided to go ahead and open an Etsy shop. My schedule this year will allow to crochet at least 2 hours a day.  I will be focusing on crochet items. I plan to have plenty of caps in all varieties along with preemie outfits since I love to make them. I also believe my husband will be making some more wooden crochet hooks. I wanted to share it with you. I hope to get about 10 items in the shop this week. I have been focusing on preemie caps and booties this week. I have had football on the brain. I wonder why and it has shown in what I have made. I will talk more about that in another post. http://www.etsy.com/shop/NadineCreates

I also wanted to tell you the results from the poll about making a cap. I wanted to make a hamburger cap but I am glad I didn’t. No one voted for it. The minion cap won. I started on it and will probably have it done by the end of the week. However, I got an order for the Thomas the Train cap and will make it also. Right now I have 5 naked baby dolls that need clothes before our children get in class Tuesday. Plus a doll to finish and about 6 other items to crochet on my list! So let me get back to crocheting!  I’ll post pictures soon.
