We planted wildflowers for our bees this year. We had a spot where a mobile home been and there was no grass so that was perfect for them. It turns out that the bees and us love the way it turned out. We are already thinking about what we can add to it next year. I wonder if we can have wildflower yard?IMG_0044 IMG_0048 IMG_0050 IMG_0051

Scrap Rugs

Years ago my Aunt Rentha had a sampler that I think came from the Depression era, “Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.”  The idea always stuck with me. I have a real hard time throwing away something without seeing if I can put it to another use. These rugs are examples of that. I keep scraps of yarn from projects in bags by yarn weight and every so often they become something useful and pretty. I needed some soft rugs for my bathroom so I made these. Nice thing is my husband loves them, I used up some scraps and got soft things for my feet!

Homemade lotion and shampoo bar for silver hair

While off this summer I decided to make some lotion. I found this recipe and made this!

I also wanted to try a shampoo bar for my silver hair. My husband loves using the coconut milk soap I make for his hair. However, the lady who cuts our hair suggested the “purple” shampoo for my salt and pepper hair. It has a tendency to go yellow on me and I hate that. After much research, I took a chance and added violet coloring to a bar of the soap. I came up with this and it worked. Now I don’t have to worry about spilling shampoo.
