What I have been working on

I have been very busy this week. We are gearing up for our PTA fall festival at school. Each grade made baskets based on a theme and ours was music so I made an I-phone holder. I made it in orange and brown which are our school colors.  I forgot to take a picture of the I-phone holder though,  I have been working on other things to be auctioned off.  Plus I have been trying to restock my shop. So here is some of what has been on my hooks this week.  Plus I have to work in a real job full-time. Thank heavens my dear husband does the cooking and cleaning!

Preemie Pants and My Shining Star Bunting

Once again, I was going to write about one thing and changed my mind. I have decided to share a new item I came up with this week based on the popularity of my preemie clothes. I made preemie pants. These are done in sock yarn and look like blue jeans to me. A friend told me that they bought baby clothes to bring her grandson home in. I also noticed when I was searching the web that there were plenty of clothes for little girls but not so much for boys.

What do people think boys wear? Especially little bitty ones? So anyway, I made these based on standard measurements I found for 5 pound babies. I understand this is the smallest weight that preemies are sent home at. I realize they really don’t wear much while in the hospital.

The other item I made was a star baby bunting. You know how some times you see something and think I have to have that? Well for me it is usually I see it have to make it. I stumbled across a pattern and knew I had to try it. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do. i figure it would be really neat in white but went with the color the pattern called for the first time. I will see if I get any requests for it in other colors. In the mean time, enjoy!

Designing Patterns

Recently I had a procedure which required I take a week off from work and hang out on the couch. For me to go from working with special needs children to being still was a challenge. But I did it with little fuss.

My husband surprised me with the purchase of Stitch Works Software. He knew I wanted to take my business to the next level and this was his way of supporting me. Love that man! Anyway, I decided to start with a simple design, Shell Stitch Cap. I haven’t gotten comfortable with the program yet. I figure I need another week to really make a good looking pattern. But in the meantime I have this.

My next pattern will be a pants outfit for a 5 pound preemie I hope. I had a request and want to see if I can do it.

Dragons are invading my home

I know. I know. I just couldn’t help myself. I guess I have been home too much this week. Anyway, I saw a Dragon Scarf Pattern by Krystal.  I knew I had to make one. I made a few changes to the wings but the pattern is good the way it is. She did a good job with it.  I know the next one will be a little different too. I crochet like I cook. Follow the general idea but make it mine.  Anyway I wanted to share these so I did an additional post this week.

As usual if you want them or a custom version head over to my shop. Thanks!

Baby Girl

It has been quite a week for me. I have had to limit my activity to things I could do with my arms. Nothing like lifting, bending or driving. Just hang out on the couch kinda thing.  I asked the doctor if crocheting would hurt. He gave me a funny look and said “No”. OK I’m set then right? Who cares about walking around if I can create! Just put the yarn near me and I’m set to go.

So I have a friend who asked me to make a dress for her granddaughter. What a treat! I never crochet for little girls except caps. Maybe that is why I am being so critical of what I made. I ended up making 2 dresses because I couldn’t decide how I wanted it to look. The only thing she said was fall colors. Tomorrow I am going to take them to her and let her choose.

Well after I made these dresses, she decided they were too bright. She decided she wanted more muted colors. So I put them in my Etsy shop for $12.00. I would be willing to make a matching headband for an additional $5.00 if a person wanted it. You can get more information on the dresses by checking out my shop.

I made a few other things that will be going in the shop and something for me which I will share soon!
