Figure 8 ear warmer

I was inspired by this ear warmer I saw a while back crochet twisted headband_3. It didn’t have a pattern but I figured I could make something similar. it took me 2 tries to get what I wanted. The first one was too wide in my husband’s opinion. Yes, I ask for it. He has a good eye for what looks good on me.

Here is the first one.   This is the second one. I ended up making the first one into a cap. I used Homespun yarn because it is soft and thick. My husband suggested a rose on it. I have learnt to listen to him over the years. He has a good eye for what something needs to take it to the next level.

Which cap should I try next? Poll

I joined a crochet a long today to make a challenging cardigan for myself.  Believe it or not, I have never made one. But this one looked like something I would wear for years. This is important to me. I will share it later, MUCH later.

In the mean time, it got me to thinking about my caps. I have several patterns that I am considering trying. I decided to ask you which one you would be most likely to buy if you saw it. I left one blank in case you have one I didn’t put. I would have have a link to the hat so I could see it. This is the first time I have ever done a poll and I am excited to see what happens! Here are the pictures of the 3 hats I listed. So tell your friends, let other people know and vote. Next Saturday I will count the votes and make that cap.

Cow Cap

I had a pretty good day today. After going to get a stress test this morning, my grandson called to how it went and then gave me the news. His mom, ex-daughter-in-law, got told that they were expecting a boy.  He is 10 and told me “I got to see him kick mom with both feet!” I think it is so cool that he got to be there while she had a sonogram. Last week, he offered to babysit when he was born. When his mom asked him about changing diapers, he said “Don’t worry about it. Papa will teach me how to change them. Won’t you Papa?”  Papa said “Sure, I changed enough of yours!”

Another piece of news that I got was that I will be working in pre-k this year. I am excited! I finished this cow cap.  It’s available, just email me if you are interested.

What do you think? I used this pattern from Amy’s Crochet Creative Creations. I made a few modifications. Sorry Amy, I just can’t follow patterns completely.  I will have plenty inspiration this year. So expect more caps in the future.

Now, I am trying to copy an ear warmer that I saw. Being in pre-k means I will be outside much more this school year and I always have to keep my ears covered. I’ll share it as soon I get it done.

I decided to post these dinosaur caps here. I made them this month. The red one was made in these colors because my grandson loves red. He is too old to wear this but he liked it. I like the way the black spikes pop against. The eyes on it are flat.

The brown dino one has pop eyes and orange spikes. Both caps have are 18″ diameter and 6″ high. I think it would fit a toddler or young child.

I am putting them here for $15.00 each. If anyone is interested just email me. Summer is almost over and I will have a lot less time to crochet.

Crochet Ring

I finally finished the ring I had in my brain. Here it is. It ended up being 1 1/2″ on top with a 3/4″ band. I wear a size 7 and have long fingers. crochet ring

It is soft and comfortable. That is what i like about crochet jewelry. I decided to share how I made it. Consider it my free pattern.   I hope you enjoy it. I consider the ring a spring board to a variety of styles. I still want one that is longer on top with 2 narrow bands instead of 1 wide band.  I also wear a lot of earth tones including turquoise and have some beads that will be beautiful done that way I think.

In the mean time, try out the pattern and see what you come up with. I’d love to see them!

Here is another version of the ring. I love this but my dear husband doesn’t. I think it is too wild for his taste.

Crochet Ring

Materials:

Crochet Cotton Thread size 10
Steel hook size 5
Bead
Row 1:
Make fsc as long as you want the ring to be (if you do not know how to do this, check this out http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-foundation-single-crochet-fsc/)
I did 8 fsc then ch 1 and turn.
Row 2-7: Sc in each stitch across, ch 1 and turn. I used my finger and made the base to fit across the top of my finger. You might want to make it wider where it will wrap more.
Row 8-21: Sl st in first 2 stitches then sc in next 5, ch 1 and turn. (I did this for 13 rows which made a wide comfortable band on me.)

At this point, I sewed the bead on with the thread to the side. I just think it was easier than attaching after the band is finished.
Row 22: Sl st to main part of ring then sc up side of ring. On the end of this ring I did 3 sc in corner stitch, sc in next, skipped 2 stitches, 7 dc in next, skip 2 stitches, sc in next, 3 sc in corner, worked sc evenly around band then cut.
Then connect on other side of band and repeat to get matching sides.

Fish Hat

Well you know how things don’t work out sometimes?  Today was one of those days.  I tried to make the seashell necklace but couldn’t get them to be still. I need to work on that more. The ring is still a work in progress. I made the base in black and am trying to decide what color beads to put on it.

So, I decided to share this fish cap I crocheted.  I saw the pattern somewhere and wanted to try it. Like I said before I like crazy caps. When you put this on, the mouth goes over your head and the tail hangs down. Like the other cap, if someone is interested in it they can leave me a comment and ask me questions and tell me what they think it is worth. I am also curious if a person would be interested in the cap if it was made in bright colors.

Pink and Green Summer Cap

I love to make caps. They are a way to create in a small package. You can make a statement without spending a lot of money. Personally I like caps that are unique. I mean why not! I don’t want to wear what everyone else has.

Recently I found a couple of caps that I had made. I am not quite sure I made this cap in pink cotton. I must have had some extra from some caps I was making for a boutique in New York. Anyway I am putting it up for sale. If you are interested, ask me questions in the comments section. I’ll even add a picture of it on me if you want. Tell me what you want to pay for it and if I think it is fair, I’ll tell you how to contact me by email for us to make arrangements.

I have decided to sale some of my items this way, partly because I am tired of doing it the traditional way and I am curious as to what people think my work is worth.

I plan on putting my fish cap, big bird and reversible team cap here in the next few days. Right now I have a crochet necklace with sea glass and broken shells that wants to be made.
